Great site.Easily navigated.Visited the museum today, on Pre-Hibernation day. What fantastic weather for the event.Great enjoyment riding on the different buses. Many old memories stirred.Next generation, our 10 yr old daughter, very enthusiastic about looking round all the exhibits and so happy that we could climb aboard so many vehicles. Can't understand why we've never visited before. Will certainly return next April. Thanks to all for their hard work and cheerfulness

Very good site. Agree with comments about some nasty stewards at the Open Day which we attended with my family.
the usual museum people were nice.
It is a bit too much money for the short rides at the open day. why not go further and enjoy the countryside? Good luck to the good stewards. Bad luck to the horrible ones!

I think your work on keeping the historic Lodon vehicles 'on the road' is fantastic. Keep up the good work!!
I saw the STL and ST on the RM last days last year and thought they look amazing.
Also travelled on RMC 1461 on the Heritage Routes in Sept. It was great, to me it seemed it could almost be brand new! (except that i wasnt born til 1983, long after the very last RM was born!)

Thank folks
Keep up the hard work and i'll be joining the museum soon

Many good things done by the Trust. Well done. However, the Wisley Open Day is not pleasant owing to (1) It's high cost - £8 per person is extorionate for a few limited rides (2) The aggressive commercial nature of some stewards (3) Poor toilets.

We were hoping you might be able to send some buses to Cobham on the day to give people trips around Cobham and Downside.
I will telephone the museum tomorrow but thought I would write this anyway.
I will look forward to hearing from you.

My father Richard Wilkinson worked for London country buses for over 40
years and was one of the first ever routemaster bus drivers before he was the
superintendent at Dorking bus station, he also was responsible for organising
a bus to be pulled through Dorking in aid of the tadworth Court hospital in
1983. He is now 84 and we hope to bring him to the next event day on Bank
holiday monday. Do we need to book a ticket? and what time should we
arrive?

When next in the Surrey area I will make a point of turning off M25 at Junction 10.

I am an 'expat' Londoner and recently saw STL2377 in a TV series Jerico. It was blinded for 19 to Tooting Bec and must have been seen by me in service as this route passed by my school gates in Battersea Rise. As it is a Holloway J bus I could have travelled on it on route 14 in1941-2 when I was at school in Hortensia Rd Chelsea.
I have a lot of memories re LT buses, in particular route 77A, the only one to have all 3 types of STD, also RT1, 2RT2 G and D types, unless 137 which shared the same garages also was so served. A friend from Canberra tells me that Gs were not used on 137.
I am prepared to contribute further re my memories from the 1930s on to 1959.

I read with interest that the museum in Redhill Road, could move to a site within the Brooklands Museum complex. This itself could be a good move but I am concerned that the static rally would still be held at Wisley, which itself is such an ideal site. I am wondering if Brooklands would be able to accomodate such a static display as well as all the stalls, but also would Mclaren do a U turn and get involved. Also I would feel that if a move be made then, the museum building must have the same feeling that the current building does now.

Thanks

I was just looking at your re-vamped website and it is nice to see that it has at last been updated with news of latest acquisitions and restoration progress. However, I see that RTL 139 is still being referred to as a Leyland PD2. All available Leyland records refer to these London chassis' as type Leyland 7RT. They were not at all like the standard PD2 - the wheelbase was different along with the brakes, steering and gearbox and even the chassis profile was different and designed to carry the standard RT body via the universal mountings. I know it's just a small point but the historical record needs to be accurate. As a footnote the RTW was referred to by Leyland as the 6RT chassis. Keep up the good work - I am looking forward to this year's open day.

New web site looks very good,
Just one observation, you may like to change the way the date of posting is shown.
For instance
When first reading the update for 14th Feb about the members day on 12th March, with 14th Feb in bold and the date of event not, I first thought the event was 14th Feb.
A suggestion to a slight change to the format.
News Update posted ........2006
and then highlight the event dates. I know the events are on another page, but with the need for as many members / vistors as possible every bit of advertsing helps.

Hello,
We were looking to visit your museum and found the site very difficult to find extract important details like where it is, opening times, entrance fees and whether you have a shop, cafe etc. At the bottom of one page, I did find a map, but none of the other information. If you want visitors, I believe you need to make the site more informative in this area. Also if you want families to come, how about advertising a picnic area, children's swings or adventure trail (with a quiz on the outside exhibits) in the five acres of grounds.
Another issue is that I knew you existed, but not the website. On the Surrey museums website, you are called Cobham bus museum, but when entering into Yahoo, your site does not come up. I had to use the link from the Surrey museums site. Hope this is useful.

Congratulations for being as you are. Restoring vintage bu-

are few guys in Montevideo restoring buses and trolleybu-
ses, that is : www.erhitran8m.net, they rebuilt two Leylands
and one ACLO (AEC in Uruguay). They have some Goverment su-

Impossible: if you know what I mean.
They also have for restoring a couple of AEC's (1937) with
uruguayan made bodies and a few italians and one british
trolleybuses with european made bodies. They offer service
tours around the city and there is a very interesting thea-
trical show specially written for a bus trip, where passegers assit to a show, are part of it, and the actors
travel among these passengers, This theatrical show has been on and on for very long time now with singular success for a small and tiny city like Montevideo.
