Acquired by Museum:2002
Current State:Fully restored, operational
DMS 2172 entered service at the end of 1976, from Elmers End garage, and led a fairly uneventful life until it was damaged by fire in September 1980. It was placed into store at Aldenham for just over a year, before being moved to Clapham, to be used as a change store.

In June 1982, the body was removed, and the chassis was shortened, allowing the vehicle to became a mechanical trainer. This lasted for approximately a year, before the vehicle was withdrawn, and purchased by Paddington Technical Collage.

The vehicle was donated to the Museum in 2002, and has had some remedial work carried out, including repainting the remaining front panel work. This rear engined chassis provides an ideal comparison to the chassis of RT 2213, which can also been seen in the Museum.
