Upon withdrawal, the vehicle was sold to an owner in Holland, being acquired in February 1953 by the Het National Automobielmuseum at Leidschendam, the Hague. It stood for several years in the open, while the museum building was under construction. However, the acquisition of a more modern and recently withdrawn RTL, rendered STL 441 surplus to their requirements. The London Bus Preservation Group was approached and the bus was returned to the United Kingdom and to the Cobham Bus Museum in August 1974 with restoration to pre-war livery. It was used like this for quite a number of years before the state of the wooden framed bodywork made it necessary for a rebuild. The bus has now been partially reframed, and made its debut at the 2007 London to Brighton run.
