T 504 was one of 266 of this type of coach to enter Green Line service, being initially allocated to Staines garage in May 1938. T 504 along with most of the class were converted to ambulances in 1939, although 76 were used by the American Army and the Red Cross as transport or 'Clubmobiles' and 10 vehicles were painted grey in 1943 for use at Vickers Aircraft factory in Weybridge. Most coaches reverted to London Transport passenger service in 1946 although 12 failed to be returned. In mid 1951, T 504 was painted into red livery, classified 10T10/3 and allocated to Sidcup garage until withdrawal in 1954.
Disposal was to dealer, W. North of Leeds, in 1954 and then on to Brunt, of Oldham for conversion to a mobile showroom, via another dealer, Evans. The conversion was never carried out, and it was sold again in 1959 for conversion to a mobile crane, to Winterbourne of Chatterton, but again the work was never carried out. Acquired by the 2RT2 Preservation Group in 1968, it was subsequently repainted at London Transports Aldenham Bus Works and finally reached Cobham eight years later in 1976. It is fully roadworthy and it can be seen occasionally representing the Museum at rallies.
